The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami is launching an opportunity for visual artists in 2027: the Vizcaya Arts Residency + Commission. Targeting both emerging and established talents from South Florida, the residency invites participants to explore the theme “Holding Time” through site-specific works interacting with Vizcaya’s history, architecture, and environment. Selected artists will receive a $12,500 grant, a production budget up to $25,000, as well as curatorial support and exhibition spaces at the museum. The residency period runs from May to November 2027, culminating in a public exhibition until May 2028. Artists will have access to a dedicated studio and engage with the public through educational programs and open studio events. Applications, open until 2 November 2026, must include a biography, portfolio, and a statement of interest related to the proposed theme. Participants are not required to develop a complete project at the application stage. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to create meaningful dialogues with local cultural heritage and contribute to the contemporary vision of this historic landmark.
