The Artist-in-Residence program in the Porcupine Mountains offers writers, musicians, and visual artists the chance to express themselves immersed in the natural landscape. Residencies take place in a unique wilderness location, and selected artists will publicly present their work. Accommodation is provided at the rustic ‘Dan’s Cabin,’ contributing to a true experience of artistic isolation. Applications are open until 14 February 2026. During the residency, artists are encouraged to draw inspiration from the environment and contribute works to the visitor center’s permanent collection. The program has no application fees and is open to participants worldwide, providing a platform for creative experimentation in various artistic fields. Public presentations occur every Thursday afternoon at the Folk School Building.
