The BAX Artist in Residence program, active since 1993, supports multidisciplinary artists in dance, theater, and performance, focusing on cultural justice and artistic development. From 2026 to 2028, it offers a free residency with institutional support and a stipend of $8,000. Artists participate in monthly meetings and receive rehearsal spaces and professional consultations. The residency culminates in public presentations. Open to residents of New York’s five boroughs, the program encourages work in cohorts.
